Announcement and Fact-sheet for IBFTC 2017



Bhutan Tennis Federation (BTF) is organizing 3rd  India Bhutan Friendship Tennis Championship from 27th May – 04 June 2017, at the National Tennis Center, Changlimethang. This event is sponsored by India Bhutan Foundation (IBF).

Players from Assam, West Bengal, Nagaland, Sikkim, Arunachal Pradesh, Delhi and Darjeeling are participating in the tournament.

Effective 1st March 2017, BTF will implement the following:

  1. MEMBERSHIP is valid for a calendar year 1st January to 31st December
  2. Fee for new members is Nu. 3000 per year. Fee for renewal of membership is Nu. 2500. Foreign nationals pay USD 100 per year.
  3. Daily access to courts (e.g. occasional player) is Nu. 100 per person.
  4. Members, whose current membership has validity through portions of 2017, will pay balance fees for remaining of 2017, calculated on a monthly basis. For example: a current membership of a Bhutanese national valid through September 2017 will pay balance Nu. 625 for the remaining of 2017. From 1st January 2018 everyone will pay calendar year membership.
  5. Bhutanese junior learners and players up to age of 21 will be given free membership, in line with BTF vocation to primarily benefit and promote tennis among young Bhutanese. Bhutanese students age 21 – 23 will have free membership on presentation of letter from educational institution that they are in full time attendance of the education program.
  6. Foreign volunteers will be extended same fee structure as Bhutanese nationals, on presentation of work permit or other document that certifies their status.
  7. Everyone, Bhutanese national or foreigner, will have to carry their membership card with them in order to be given access to tennis courts. Daily occasional user will be given access to courts after payment of daily fees. No one is permitted on courts without their cards or payment of daily fee. If a member forgets to bring along or looses his/her membership card, he/she will first obtain a temporary permit from the facility-in-charge or request for a duplicate membership card.

Monday to Friday from 3pm to 5pm, and on Saturdays from 10am to 1pm, or make appointment with BTF office staff by contacting:    77702426. For subsequent years, new memberships will be issued 20 December – 10 January

  1. No fees for lights will be levied, as the increase in membership takes into consideration power bills for lighting the courts in evening hours
  2. No one can participate in BTF tournaments and training programs without valid membership, unless specifically invited to the event (eg. foreign players for international tournaments)
  3. From MARCH 2017 we will implement the system of booking of tennis courts Mondays-Fridays 4pm – 8pm and Saturdays-Sundays 8am-noon. Members will be given 1 hour slots, for single or doubles. A separate circular will be issued one week before start of implementation of the booking system

JDC result from the second day


JDC result from the second day, where in Bhutan team have made it to the quarter finals beating Iraq, we will be playing Singapore in the quarter finals today, our standing position will be good even if we loose to Singapore.

img_5564During the 2nd AGM of the Bhutan Olympic Committee held in Phuentsholing on 20th January 2017, the President of Bhutan Tennis Federation Mr. Palden Dorji was nominated and elected to the Executive Committee Board of the Bhutan Olympic Committee. The BOC is the apex body for the promotion and development of sports in the Country.

Winter Coaching Camp on 19-12-2016

Bhutan Tennis Federation will be organizing winter coaching camp from 19th December,16 to 7th January, 17 for the youth in the following ages : U-10,U-12 and U-14, at National Tennis Center, Thimphu.

Memorial Tennis Championship held in Darjeeling-2016

The Memorial Tennis Championship held in Darjeeling from 18th Nov to 20 th Nov, 2016. Tenzin Singye Dorji from Bhutan came second in the men’s open single event in the third Tenzing Norgay. Another Bhutanese Kiley Wangchuk reached the semi final for the event. In the doubles veteran category, Tshering Namgay and Jambay Gyeltshen lost in the semi finals. 

The championship saw participants from Bhutan, Nepal and various parts of India including the host state Darjeeling.
